At the 69th Filmfare Awards, OMG 2 garnered nine nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Critics) for Pankaj Tripathi, and Best Supporting Actress for Yami Gautam. Production and Release:

The film was rumored to be in production as early as January 2021, with initial reports suggesting the return of Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. However, Paresh Rawal denied these reports, and in June 2021, a new storyline for the sequel was confirmed with Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam joined the cast later that month.

Filming began in September 2021 in Mumbai, with subsequent schedules in October and December 2021. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recommended 20 cuts and granted the film an "A" (Adults Only) certificate due to its sensitive subject matter, which includes sex education, religion, and the portrayal of divine figures. The filmmakers initially wanted a "U/A" certificate but eventually accepted the "A" certificate after making 25 modifications.
