Sony Pictures Entertainment registered titles like "Major" and "Major Sandeep" as part of their efforts to create a biopic on Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Talks with Sandeep’s family began in January 2019 to secure the rights, with an aim to honor his life. The film was announced in February 2019, featuring Adivi Sesh as the lead actor. Despite having a predominantly Telugu cast and crew, the film was shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi to reach a broader audience, especially since the events took place in North India.Filming:
The movie was filmed in 120 days across over 75 locations, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. Principal photography began in February 2020 but faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming resumed in September 2020, with additional schedules in Hyderabad. Sobhita Dhulipala completed her portions in November 2020, and the final schedule wrapped up in December 2021.
