Gadar 2 is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language period action drama film. It was directed and produced by Anil Sharma, with a script written by Shaktimaan Talwar. This movie is a sequel to Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001). The lead roles are played by Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma, who reprise their roles from the first film. The story takes place during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, where Tara Singh returns to both India and Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh, and his wife, Sakeena Ali Singh.

Production:
The official announcement of Gadar 2: The Katha Continues was made on October 15, 2021, by Zee Studios, Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma on social media. The first poster was released on January 26, 2023, showing Sunny Deol's character, Tara Singh, holding a hammer. Sunny Deol was initially unsure about reprising his role, feeling that the original film was a one-time success. However, the director, Anil Sharma, convinced him by saying that the audience had been asking for a sequel. After hearing the story, Deol agreed to return, even moved to tears during the narration.
Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma also returned to their roles as Sakeena and Charanjeet. Simrat Kaur joined the cast as well. The film's shooting was completed by May 2023.
Soundtrack:
The film's music was composed by Mithoon, Uttam Singh, and Monty Sharma, with lyrics by Sayeed Quadri and Sunil Sirvaiya. The songs "Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava," "Khairiyat," and "Main Nikla Gaddi Leke" were among the tracks released before the film's official soundtrack album, which was launched by Zee Music Company in August 2023.

On its opening day, Gadar 2 earned ₹40.10 crore (US$4.8 million) in India. By the end of its first weekend, the film had collected over ₹134.88 crore (US$16 million), making it the ninth highest-opening weekend for a Hindi film. By September 14, 2023, the movie had grossed ₹625.54 crore (US$75 million) in India and ₹65.54 crore (US$7.9 million) overseas, for a total of ₹691.08 crore (US$83 million) worldwide.

Gadar 2 received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, only 17% of 12 reviews were positive, with an average rating of 4.2/10. Taran Adarsh gave it 4.5/5 stars, praising Sunny Deol's performance and the film's entertainment value. Anindita Mukherjee from India Today rated it 3.5/5 stars, noting that it exceeded expectations. Shubhra Gupta from The Indian Express gave it 1.5/5 stars, commenting on Sunny Deol's enduring appeal. Komal Nahta described the film as a "celebration" and an emotional experience for Indians. Monika Rawal Kukreja of Hindustan Times acknowledged the film's weaknesses in story and pacing but appreciated its mass entertainment value.
